A Night on the Town 2: The long weekend.

It's as if I’m making up for lost time. Like a stated in my guest post, I almost feel like me old self again...almost but not quite there yet. I've found the ability to simply enjoy myself. It has been a long, LONG time since I've...Oh, wait a minute...I’m getting ahead of myself again. First let me tell you how this long weekend started:

It all started on Thursday night. I came home from work, I was tired and hungry when suddenly my phone rang. Ash. The youngsta extraordinair invited me to hang out. “Yo, Johnny...you up for some R&R Saturday night?” “Well sir, I respectfully accept your offer”. I said with a Pride and Prejudice accent.

The next day I was hanging out with my cousin when I got a text message from Ash that said: “ Tomorrow! We meet up with the crew! You can even shower at my place”. I didn't get that shower part. Why would I want to take a shower at your place I thought to my self.

It's Saturday! First I meet up with Ash in the city to do some shopping. I bought myself some new sneakers didn't even bother to wear nice cloth, because, we're just going to chill at Ash' place with the usual suspects. Than, back at his place Ash dropped the bomb. “Don't you remember? We're going to this party tonight”. Now I understood the shower part and him buying new cloth. I looked like my usual self (can you say BUM?) but I did have nice new sneakers on. “Ah to hell with it” I said.

INTERMEZZO:

I've never been a party animal but when I would go out, I could somewhat enjoy myself. Didn't like to dance but from time to time I joined the festivities. But somewhere along the line that got lost too and as I said before I lost the ability to enjoy anything at all. (Thank you ex-girlfriend).

This is how I expected the night to go: Me standing against the wall bopping my head. That's it. Ash and me met up with some old friends whom I haven't seen in quite a while and to my utter surprise I felt good...I was very pleased to see them again. Jona, the artist brought a new player to the game. Miss B. A girl from his class. A petit German who was pretty quiet at first. And we were on our way.

When we got in the joint my first thought was “Oh God, oh God...” Artsy Farty people, Hipsters and whatnot. I needed a beer quick! So, there I was standing against the wall with my beer, bopping my head. I thought to myself “This party sucks”. The people were dancing, my friends were having a good time and suddenly it struck me. “Why don't I just go out there and join the fun”. Then my other self, The unhappy angry Johnny stood beside me. It was like a scene from that movie Multiplicity. I was talking to myself.

Me: Why don't I just go out there and join the fun?

Angry Johnny:
Well...(takes a sip from his beer and lights a cigarette).

Me:
You smoke?!

Angry Johnny:
Yep, The reason you don't dance is you'll make us look an idiot.

Me:
Yeah, but look at them...they don't care. I mean come on, look there is even a dude dressed up as a woman...they don't care. They are having a blast. Why am I standing here against this wall

Angry Johnny:
Because that's what we do, that what we always do. I'm here to protect you. Look at them...fools. This party sucks anyway. Let's go home...watch some DVD's.

Me:
You know what...not this time. Perhaps it's not the party that sucks...perhaps...I suck.

Angry Johnny:
Whoa now, wait a minute...Think about this. Let's not take risks. Stay with me. Do what we always do. You can't handle the world with out me.

I walk away.

ME:
Hey A.J. You should clone yourself...

Angry Johnny:
Oh, boy here we go...Why should I clone myself?

ME:
So you can go fuck yourself!

I took off my jacket, and literally danced and partied like I have never done...ever.

Jona, the artist and me.

Nana and her hubbie Mr. E, the tired dancer

Good times!

And so it ended with a beautiful night in Rotterdam...
It was wonderful but wait! There is more! The next weekend we were at it again!

Ash me enjoying a little quiet time

Boogie down!

Miss B., Ash and Me ready to party!

Miss F. and her hubbie Mike, The Robot.

Girls just wanna have fun.

Pattycake!

Miss F. doing the 4-skin sign...now what could that mean?

Fuzzy pic but still cool

More good times!

And when i got home a beautiful gray, cloudy sky greeted me.

Met some new people, danced like I don't care and feeling incredibly good. That next day I had a day out with my film making buddies. We were all a little tired from the day before so we weren't our usual wild selves. We did promise to do it over again...Than sunday, Ash and me met up with some pals in The Hague for Park Pop...now, I have to say, this time it wasn't me who sucked. Park Pop really, really sucked. I didn't like it, Ash didn't like it and before we left I got a reminder of that day. Some bug stung me in the head.

All in all It was a beautiful weekend. Made new friends and had a lot of fun.

I'm not there yet though. Whatever “there” is. There are still hurdles to overcome but I’m pretty sure I’m going to be fine. A new Golden era awaits me. :)

Play some Usher (when he was still good), boogie down with your mates and forget all of your troubles....

Till the next time...when we go BACK! Way back in time...for an adventure of life time.

That's when we continue the tragedy of Johnny Madrid.

I remember one guy I dated ages ago... He felt shy dancing in a party, because he said he's not a good dancer. Well, I got annoyed and told him the obvious truth: "So what if you can't dance well? This is not a contest. This is a party and we're here just to have fun, not to brag about dance skills." He went to the dance floor with me after that. :-)

And it is as simple as that. Just enjoy yourself! Couldn't agree more. Sometimes you've just got to let go. Thanks for comment Marikoy ;)
