The day after the Break-up

Dear diary...

Hehehe. This blog is turning more in to a personal diary than anything else. But what the hey, it helps me cope with all sorts of things, bury old pains and recall ridiculous things from the past. See that’s perhaps the only good thing that comes from being stuck in bed with the flu…it gives you time to think about things. Now, before I continue with Glad I’m not you! part 2, I want to share another ridiculous story with you. It, again involves the glue and oregano girl aka The ex. It’s a stupid little story but I want to share it with you anyway.

This happened right after she and I went on holiday to Germany. Needless to say the trip was disastrous. To make a long story short, she dumped my behind while on vacation. After a grueling trip back home we said our teary goodbyes and that was that. I didn't get much sleep that night. The next morning is when all the fun began.

I woke up, got out of bed felt like crap and turned on the radio. The house was too still. To my dismay, All by myself played on the radio. Angrily I turned the dial to another station and things got worse! On my own was playing. “Why must thou maketh such a mockery out of me, Oh, vile and unnatural mockery!!!” I spat out as I raised my fist to the heavens….Okay, I actually didn’t say or do that. Irritated I just turned off the radio. I turned on the television. On every channel, happy people. Bah HUMBUG! I zapped to MTV and there…yep, you guessed it, The Streets with Dry your eyes. During that video I couldn’t take it anymore. Niagra falls. I think I cried every day for a week. I thought stuff like that only happened in films.

It’s sad. For all the crap I took. I did really love her. It soon turned in to a one way street though. I did the best I could to make it work but alas some things are just not meant to be. As if fate, or destiny or whatever gave me one final test, I actually saw her last Friday. On my way to a meeting I walked straight toward her. We looked at each other for a few seconds while we walked past each other. No, hello’s, no nod’s or smiles. Nothing.

You know how you are startled, when you see an ex, or an old crush? Your heart might skip a beat. I felt absolutely nothing. I didn’t look back and no matter how sick I felt at that moment, I actually felt good and smiled. I’m over it. I’m over her. I can now bury that old pain and close that book. The road to healing is a long and painful one but at least I’m healing.

So, pop in your (500) days of summer DVD or go see Blue valentine in the cinema and I’ll see you again when the Tragedy of Johnny Madrid continues!!

Wow, Tim I love your story about the glue & Spice Gift... It just like my first gift from my Ex which was a deep fat frying pan and not even a high tech one, nope just a saucepan. It kind of tells you the only place for you is in the kitchen as no thought as gone into their gift. Could you write the whole thing into a screen play or short black & white Charlie Chapman sketch... A sort of man's eye view of the mating game. :-)

Thank you Jarmara,
That's a big compliment coming from you. I'm glad you liked it. Ouch, you've been through it as well. Seriously, you are genius! I should write a screenplay out of this. It's perfect for a short movie! I'll start working on it right away! It was right under my nose the whole time! Thanks J! :)
